Having enjoyed our very best year to date in 2008, we would like to give something back to the business community. In 2008 we delivered some excellent programmes developing interpersonal skills, empowering leadership and change management to some wonderful clients in the UK, Europe and US, such as Shiseido, Lloyds TSB and Shire, resulting in an excellent year for LEAP, for which we are very grateful.
So, in the first quarter of 2009 we would like to offer and deliver some FREE team building and people development sessions to help a few clients in what we know will be a difficult period for many businesses. These last six months or so were a rollercoaster ride for many markets and businesses, and it may be another few months until the tide starts to turn. Businesses are struggling, some are right-sizing and others are closing, and in the midst of all this are people. It’s our job to help people do what they do even better, making the best of opportunities by being as effective and productive as is possible.
Some businesses may be thinking of suspending teambuilding and training sessions, as a way of saving money in the short term. We believe, on the grounds that people are the business, invest in them and they can and will invest in the business – failure to develop people and soft skills in this tough market may be a defining decision. One of our clients recently invested in 18 days to develop empowered leadership and communication skills that would impact on customer service, citing ‘In this market place, its our people that set us aside. We must build client relationships ready for when the market becomes active.’ People are vital to the success of business – whatever success is defined as in the current market, and we’d like to help in that success in a small way.
LEAP is not pretending that a few free teambuilding sessions will change the world, but it is a little like the ‘How do you eat an elephant?’ joke, ‘One bite at a time’. If we all make a tiny effort, add a little extra, take one step and all those cliché’s, then may be we can make a massive collective difference. So for our part, we wish to give away at least three free workshops in the first quarter of 2009.

FREE relates to our time, and can be described as one free day of facilitation, consultancy, training or coaching. This free offer does not include travel costs, venue fees, licensed materials and other activities, extra meeting days or follow up coaching. As a guide, if you request an Outstanding Teambuilding workshop, it will be delivered free, plus any travel expenses incurred. If you require an SDI based session, then we would ask that you pay for the licensed booklets at cost, plus travel. Should you want your Spanish based sailing event facilitated free of charge, then we may wonder why – if you can afford to fly your team to Spain and hire yachts – you want a free service?
